TERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated:
1. Description of Service
The Mafia.exe is a free Discord application that hosts and manages social deduction party games
(Mafia/Werewolf). It creates private game threads, assigns randomized roles, manages day/night phase transitions,
processes votes and night actions, and enforces win conditions automatically. The Bot requires an initial /setup
command to configure the MMuted role and game channel before any gameplay commands can be used.
2. Eligibility & Discord Terms
- You must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times.
- You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement (13+, or higher where local law requires). The Bot performs no additional age verification.
- Use of the Bot constitutes acceptance of Discord's policies in addition to these Terms.
3. Setup & Configuration
Before any gameplay commands can be used, a server administrator must run /setup to:
- Create or assign the MMuted role for dead players.
- Select the designated game channel where all lobbies and game threads will be created.
Server administrators can also configure additional settings using /config including:
- Timer presets (Speed, Normal, Relaxed).
- Role presets (Classic, Full, Chaos).
- Theme colors for embeds.
- Ping roles for lobby notifications.
- Addon roles — toggle Mayor, Gunsmith, Traitor, Blackmailer, and Lovers on or off.
All gameplay commands are locked until setup is complete. This ensures proper configuration and prevents misuse.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Bot fairly and lawfully. You agree NOT to:
- Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended behavior in game mechanics.
- Use automation, scripts, or third-party tools to gain an unfair advantage.
- Harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other players during or outside of games.
- Attempt to disrupt the Bot's operation, overload it with requests, or reverse engineer it.
- Use the Bot for any illegal activity or in violation of Discord's rules.
- Abuse the MMuted role system or attempt to bypass muting mechanisms.
- Spam join requests or abuse the private room approval system.
5. Hosts & Moderation
Game hosts (the user who creates a room) have moderation powers within their own game rooms, including:
- Setting rooms as public or private with a 10-second cooldown to prevent spam.
- Approving or denying join requests for private rooms.
- Ending or cancelling their own games.
- Kicking players from their lobby. Kicked players receive a 5-minute cooldown before rejoining the same room.
Hosts are responsible for fair administration of their rooms. Server administrators retain ultimate moderation authority within their own servers.
6. Server Administrators
Server administrators (users with the Administrator permission) have additional controls including:
- Running
/setupto configure the bot. - Running
/configto change server-wide settings. - Toggling addon roles (Mayor, Gunsmith, Traitor, Blackmailer, Lovers) via
/config. - Resetting all configuration settings to default.
- Removing the bot from the server.
7. Anti-Abuse Measures
The Bot employs several anti-abuse mechanisms to ensure fair play:
- Command Rate Limiting — 3-second cooldowns between commands.
- Join Request Spam Detection — maximum 5 requests per 10 seconds.
- Server-Wide Game Limit — maximum 30 active lobbies per server.
- Kick System — temporary bans lasting 5 minutes.
- Privacy Toggle Cooldown — 10 seconds between toggles.
- Ping Role Cooldown — 5 minutes between pings.
- Setup Guard — all commands locked until
/setupis completed.
8. Service Availability
The Bot is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- Continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation.
- Preservation of game data, statistics, or history.
- Compatibility with future Discord API changes.
The Bot may be taken offline, updated, or discontinued at any time without prior notice. Game sessions persist through bot restarts via games.json backups.
9. Data & Storage
Game data — including game IDs, server IDs, channel IDs, join codes, player lists, game logs, timestamps, server configurations, MMuted role assignments, and addon role toggles — is stored in a MySQL database on the hosting server for game functionality and historical statistics.
Active game data is cached in memory for zero database reads during gameplay, ensuring maximum performance. Backups are saved to games.json every 10 seconds for session persistence.
For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
10. No DMs Policy
The Bot does not send any Direct Messages to users. All role assignments, game notifications, and game results are delivered via:
- Ephemeral messages — visible only to the recipient in the game thread.
- Game thread messages — visible to all players in the private game thread.
- Lobby embeds — visible in the designated game channel.
This ensures privacy and prevents unwanted DM spam.
11. Free Service
The Bot is free. No paid features, subscriptions, or in-game purchases. We reserve the right to introduce optional features in the future, but core gameplay will remain free.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the creators and maintainers of the Bot shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the Bot.
- Behavior of other users during games.
- Loss of game data, statistics, or progress.
- Any third-party actions, including Discord itself.
The Bot creator is not responsible for user behavior during games.
13. Intellectual Property
The Bot, including its code, branding, and documentation, is the property of its creator. "Discord" is a trademark of Discord Inc. and is used here for identification only — the Bot is not affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Discord Inc.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Bot, in whole or for specific users or servers, at any time and for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Bot at any time by removing it from your server.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Bot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
